Way back in June 2017, Apple unveiled it's HomePod smart speaker, set to release early December. After over 6 months of waiting, the new Amazon Echo Rival is finally hitting the shelves in stores near you. The Siri-Enabled smart speaker was pretty much forgotten, with no news from Apple. Why was it delayed? Well, according to Apple, apparently it "needed a little more time before it was ready for our customers.”
What is the HomePod? It's a futuristic looking smart speaker. Rivals like Amazon's Echo and Google's Home speakers have been out for quite a while, and are becoming very popular. What makes the HomePod special? It's Apple's first smart home device. It features Siri, and works seamlessly with your iPhone and most smart home devices. It features HomeKit compatibility and works as a smart home hub. The catch? It can't stream music from non iOS devices such as your android smartphone. It also can't stream music via Bluetooth, instead, you'll have to use AirPlay instead.
How does it sound? Well, actually, it's the best sounding smart speaker yet! It features a amazing bass, and can sense and change it's acoustics based on your room's layout. It syncs directly with your Apple Music subscription, meaning you can say "Hey Siri, play Thunder by Imagine Dragons." HomePod can also send texts, give you a news briefing, and pretty much everything Siri can do on your iPhone. But can it's $349 price tag be justified? Well, if you are a Apple fan that loves great sounding music, sure it can!
